Polish Polka!

Wonderful young people keeping alive the old traditions. They entertained us with song and dance from the regions. Bright,  happy and colourful.

Warsaw Monuments

Two of the most important reminders in Poland. The remembrance symbol of the persecution of the Poles and Polish Jews and their imprisonment and extermination to and from the Warsaw Ghetto.  And the statue of Fredryk Chopin their favourite son.

Old Town Square of Krakow

These horse drawn carriages line up outside St Mary's Church in the main square of the old town. The are mostly driven by young ladies, and of course mostly hired by overseas tourists to tour the city.

Krakow, Poland

This is Krakow Castle. The golden dome is made from the jewellery of one of the queens. She gave it up to enhance the dome.

BUDAPEST!

Simply the best city from the river at night. This photo is from the top of the hill in Buda. The river cruise at night is a must. It is like a wonderland of illuminatef buildings gliding by.

The 2nd bottom photo is of Heroes Square in Budapest.

The panorama s of Parliament House, Budapest, Hungary.

Island on the lake

Church of the Mother of God on the Lake and the Wishing Bell.  This ringing bell has always been very clear to the many pilgrims and visitors to the island. By ringing the bell, we commrnd ourselves to the mother of God in hopes that our wishes will be fulfilled. Many weddings take place on this island.  The groom is expected to carry his bride up the 99 steps to the chapel from the wharf. We saw two weddings and one very strong bridegroom.  When in the chapel a couple should pull the bell rope together three times, if the bell rings then their wishes of love will come true.
